FEATUREDTOP STORIESTrending Cars

The internship project for the digital Alfa Romeo Codalunga should have been a success.

Stellantis is working on a number of initiatives these days, many of them related to the revolutionary EV lifestyle. Consider the Alfa Romeo Junior, the Jeep Wagoneer S, or the Dodge Charger Daytona.

Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo is one of Stellantis’ brands that benefits from getting extra attention and spotlight on the automotive sector’s red carpet. They now have a full portfolio as well, including the all-electric Junior (formerly known as the Milano before a fight with the Italian government), the 33 Stradale supercar, the updated Giulia sedan and Stelvio crossover SUV, and the hybridized Tonale compact CUV.

The 33 Stradale will be built by the experts at Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera in Milan, not Alfa Romeo. As a result, the latter is a subcompact crossover SUV, the smallest Alfa Romeo currently on sale, and their first all-electric car to go into production. However, it seems everyone wants more, even the interns.

If we hadn’t chosen those vehicles, we’d also have to talk about every small hatchback and crossover SUV available in Europe, including the Fiat Grande Panda, the Opel Frontera, and the Citroen C3 Aircross.

It’s clear that not many people will consider buying more ICE-powered cars, as the upscale and sporty Italian automaker is now fully established in the electrified space with the PHEV Tonale, the all-electric Junior, and the EV 33 Stradale. Unfortunately, crossovers and sedans – two very obvious product categories – are already highly saturated in the EV market. What if a sports vehicle could also be used as a saloon?

Alfa Romeo

Recently, Leonardo Di Trapani, also known as Leonardo_Ditra_ on social media, a virtual designer who already has experience as an Alfa Romeo intern, brought to our attention a hypothetical idea for a new type of electric vehicle from Alfa Romeo. Of course, his project is not about another brand, even though in the past he has come up with ideas for a new Morgan called Lotel, a cross-coupe called the Mitsubishi HS-R, or even a Mitsubishi for the Polestar Design Challenge.

For this internship assignment, he is now choosing an iconic quality that looks and feels remarkable enough to be applied in the real world. Meet the Alfa Romeo Codalunga, a Quadrifoglio automobile for the cutting-edge EV lifestyle that is much more than just a sports car – if we read the CGI cues correctly, it could even be a fastback sedan.
