Mind you, it has plenty of gear despite its primitive character. According to the company’s local office, it has a few unique characteristics, like the outer chrome trim, Progressive Line styling, low-profile aluminum roof rails, model-specific 18-inch alloy wheels with five twin-spoke design, run-flat tires, and a little bit greater ground clearance.

The keyless entry, automatic tailgate, panoramic glass roof, memory and heating features for the electric front seats, and the Parking Package with a 360-degree camera system are some of the extra gadgets. The carmaker also highlights the MBUX multimedia system, which includes dual-zone A/C with rear vents, 64-color ambient lighting, smartphone connectivity, satellite navigation with real-time traffic information, and two high-resolution digital displays.

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 City Edition boasts a number of safety features, including active lane-keeping assist, blind spot assist, exit warning, self-parking capability, automated cruise control, traffic sign assistance, auto-dimming side and interior mirrors, tire pressure warning system, eCall function, nine airbags, and more. Mercedes offers the Mercedes GLA Down Under in the 250 4Matic variant in addition to the 200 City Edition. With its 2.0L displacement, punchier motor that produces 165 kW (224 ps/221 hp), 4Matic front-biased all-wheel drive system, and 8G-DCT transmission, it can complete a sprint in 6.8 seconds. The equipment family is a little bit more expensive, with a driveaway price of AU$87,697.45, or $58,363 in today’s currency.

In Australia, the Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4Matic is the top model. This sporty variant has an eight-speed transmission, all-wheel drive, and a 2.0L four-banger that generates 225 kW (306 ps/302 hp). The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 5.2 seconds. It also receives the signature AMG style in addition to the enhanced power and equipment. In this instance, the drive-away price is AU$107,128.60 (or US$71,294).

Mercedes is a market competitor for the GLA. The GLA 250 base flavor employs a 2.0L four-pot, just like the model of the same name offered in Australia. The output and thrust have ratings of 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) and 221 horsepower (224 ps/165 kW). It has front-wheel drive and can reach 60 mph (97 kph) in 6.8 seconds. The $43,000 MSRP (or AU$64,600) is the price.

The 4Matic version increases the manufacturer’s suggested retail price by $2,000 to $45,000 (AU$67,605) while reducing the acceleration time by two-tenths of a second. Because of this, the GLA 250 4Matic is a little less expensive in our market.

Is this where you thought the offering ended? That doesn’t, though, because the hot AMG 35 configuration is also available for the GLA from the three-pointed star brand. The 2.0L model’s turbocharged gasoline burner produces 295 pound-foot (400 Nm) of torque and 302 horsepower (306 ps/225 kW), which helps the vehicle reach 60 mph in 5.1 seconds.

Are you interested in learning how fuel-efficient the Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 is in the US? That translates to 22 mpg (10.7 l/100 km) in the city and 28 mpg (8.4 liters per 100 km) on the interstate. Four-wheel independent suspension, AMG Ride Control sports suspension with three-stage damping, and rack-and-pinion with electromechanical power assist are all featured on the aggressive all-wheel-drive crossover.

It has a twin 5-spoke design and rides on 19-inch alloy wheels with 235/50 all-season tires. The starting price, at current currency rates, is $58,050, or AU$87,210. As a result, the AMG GLA 35 4Matic costs less in our market than the Australian version, which is almost 20,000 Australian dollars (~13,000 USD).
