2026 Chevrolet Camaro SUV: Blue-Collar Exotic High-Rider Concept

Due to the discontinuation of the Chevrolet Camaro late last year and the ongoing refinement of the new generation Charger by Dodge, Ford is now the only manufacturer of muscle cars. The Blue Oval’s S650 Mustang, which has a more expensive MSRP for V8-powered vehicles, just entered the 2025 model year.

I think the Dearborn-based Chevrolet Camaro corporation can afford to raise the price of the V8-powered Mustang. Since the next Dodge Charger has a straight-six with forced induction and several electric options for both body styles (coupe and sedan), it’s the only muscle car that still has an eight-cylinder engine.

The future of Stellantis’ muscle vehicle is clear as the 2025 Charger is expected to enter production soon. But what about GM’s answer to the Mustang and Charger? As reported earlier, the Bow Tie brand’s parent business is set to stop production of the Chevrolet Camaro at the end of 2023, and they haven’t revealed any information about a potential replacement yet.

When GM stopped production of the sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro, it was once claimed that this wasn’t the end of the Camaro saga. So, we can expect a new one to arrive soon. However, it doesn’t seem to be in pre-production form, as we expected to see at least a prototype – let alone a mule – operating out in the open wearing a thick layer of camouflage on its body.

However, the fact that we haven’t seen this shows that GM is still debating the best move for this nameplate. The most obvious move would be to introduce an all-new muscle vehicle, and since it would need to compete with the S650 Mustang and the new Charger, it would be wise to offer both ICE and EV power. If that’s the case, expect the latter family to also have at least one V8, ideally fitted with a big supercharger.

This might not be the only strategy, however, as there has been speculation over the past few years that the next-generation Chevy Camaro could potentially turn into a crossover. Although we’re skeptical, given the growing appreciation for high-riders, this product could be quite popular. Naturally, an EV would compete with the Ford Mustang Mach-E, but if GM goes this route, we expect it to also offer an ICE option for the potential Camaro SUV.
