Audi A7: Snow is kicked up during cold-weather testing for the 2025 Audi A7 Avant

Audi A7: A few months after we last saw it testing, the new Audi A7 Avant—which will be the first car of its sort in the name—has made a comeback to the spotlight. The tester, whose body was covered in the same camouflage, was captured in action in the icy north of Europe.

Audi A7 makes some of the styling novelties difficult to discern. Still, the whole vehicle is brand new. Its bumper looks cleaner, its grille is marginally narrower, and its headlamps up front are smaller. It appears to have significantly longer overhangs in the front and back, and it should resemble some of the brand’s most recent models in the back, where a full-width light bar is probably present.

We haven’t seen the cockpit yet, but it appears that the distance between the axles has gotten a little larger. Even so, the new dashboard panel will be dominated by two enormous screens, and it’s possible that the four-ring brand could add a third display for the HVAC system at the top of the central console. Seek upgraded safety systems, improved comfort, and the newest technological features.

However, what is the Audi A7 Avant exactly? It is, in fact, the A6 Avant’s replacement, since the Ingolstadt firm has chosen to utilize odd numbers for cars with internal combustion engines and even numbers for its planned electric cars. Additionally, the next Audi A7 series will feature a four-door sedan in addition to the Avant, which is Audi’s slang term for a station wagon. The sedan will continue to compete with vehicles like the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5 Series.

The next A6 (Avant) e-tron will add EV power to the lineup. To differentiate itself from the ICE versions, it will likely have more conventional-looking taillights, split headlamps, and a closed-off grille because it won’t have an engine to feed air to. Additionally, its roofline will be less curved, which will allow for greater headroom in the second row and perhaps a larger trunk behind it.

The upcoming Audi A7 lineup is anticipated to include plug-in and hybrid powertrain options. There are plans to release a full-fledged RS model soon, which will be the best option in terms of both price and performance. Although its powertrain specifications are still unclear, it may use a plug-in hybrid developed by Porsche. This hybrid will probably have a significant amount of power, but not enough to rival that of its Zuffenhausen siblings.

The official debut is likely to happen later this year, and the German automaker might introduce the new A7 to the US market in 2025—possibly with a slight price increase. The price of the 2024 A6 Sedan is $58,100, while the RS 6 Avant is $125,800 in addition to dealer and destination fees.
